Sets 6-20-10 & 6-27-10

Hey everyone - Sunday was a great time of worship. I can't thank you guys enough for your part in leading others to sing praises and worship God! Due to everyone's schedules over the next few weeks I've gone ahead and posted the sets for this week and next week below.

6/20: This week we'll be without Gavin and Jim and we'll be practicing Saturday (6/19) at 6:30pm at the college building.

6/27: Next week Gavin and Jim should be back, but we'll be without Ryan. So, Peter Erickson has been gracious enough to fill in for us on acoustic guitar. It will be great to play with him again! Although I'm not sure he'll say the same thing about having to put up with me again :) We haven't done "Sing, Sing, Sing" before, so there's a good chance we'll want to lower it a little (possibly from E to D), but we can figure this out at practice on Thursday (6/24) at 8:30pm at the college building.

I'm looking forward to it! Thanks again,
Jeremy

Set 6-6-10

Hey everybody - I really enjoyed the set this last week! Thanks for bringing the energy to a Memorial Day weekend service. This week we'll be without Angela and Amy, so the instruments will have to carry the load.

We'll be practicing at the college building at 8:30pm on Thursday. I look forward to seeing you there!

Set 5-30-10

We'll have a small group this week due to Memorial Day weekend: Angela, Gavin, and Paul will all be gone. So, it looks like we'll need Jim to move over to bass if he's up for it and have a three-piece. We'll be practicing on Thursday at 8:30pm at the college building.

Set 5-23-10

I enjoyed the set this week - thank you all for your contribution to leading others in worship! This week we will be practicing on Saturday at 6:30pm at the college building rather than at the typical time. Let me know if this is a problem for anyone.

This week we'll be doing a new song called "Break Every Chain". The recording seems to be in F#, but we'll do it in E as the chart shows (and will shorten it from its 7+ minute version). :)

We'll also be doing a new arrangement of "My Jesus I Love Thee" that I think will be fun. This recording is in Bb, but we'll most likely lower it to G (but can decide for sure at practice).

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday for practice!

Set 5-16-10

Due to a banquet at the college building on Thursday, we'll need to push practice back 30 minutes to 9pm on Thursday (as there isn't an alternate time that works for everyone). Thanks for being flexible - let me know if this is a problem for anyone.

We'll be doing another new song this week called "Everything Falls" by Fee. It's in C on the recording, but we'll probably lower it to B (or possibly A if necessary). Also, I'd like to consider playing "Safe" in A this week instead of G. Will that throw you off too much Gavin?

Thanks again - I look forward to seeing everyone at practice!

Set 5-9-10

I think everything really came together well this week - thanks again for everyone's hard work in this ministry! This week we'll be doing a new song "Safe" by Phil Wickham. The recording is in B, but we'll probably lower it to G. We'll figure it out at practice on Thursday at 8:30pm at the college building. I look forward to seeing everyone!

Set 5-2-10

Hey everybody - thanks for playing on Sunday morning and at the Acteens coronation! It was a good day. This week we have a special guest. Mark Powell will be coming down to join us for the worship set in the contemporary service. We've chosen songs he enjoys and is familar with. I look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday at 8:30pm in the college building for practice!

Set 4-25-10

Thanks again guys for being flexible this week! I thought the set came together really well on Sunday morning. This week Paul will be out Sunday morning, so Gavin will be moving over to bass. Matt is going to join us so we can still have 2 guitars. I figure this will allow Ryan to play electric on some of the songs to fill out the sound. Thanks guys!

Also, I've included the 2 songs we've been asked to do for the Acteens coronation on Sunday night. I figure we can run through these songs at the beginning of practice with Paul since he'll be there Sunday night. Then he can jet and we can work through the morning set. I look forward to seeing everybody Thursday at 8:30pm at the college building!

4.11.10 Set

Hey guys! I'm really looking forward to this next week's set. Here's the breakdown:

Title/Artist/Album - Key we will be playing it in

Happy Day/Tim Hughes/Holding Nothing Back
- C (mp3)
Solid Rock/Delirious/The Mission Bell - A (mp3)
From the Inside Out/Hillsong/United We Stand - C (mp3)
Hosanna/Hillsong United/All of the Above - E (mp3)
My Glorious/Delirious/Glo - A (mp3)

In case my links don't work, here's the folder with the charts.
And here's the folder with the MP3s.

Specifics:

-Happy Day: We'll be playing this just as it is on the album; big, lots of energy.

-Welcome-

-Solid Rock: Gavin, I want you to play the intro riff that continues throughout the song. After Bryan finishes his welcome, start playing it. We will vamp on that intro softly while people meet and greet, then when it's time to start the song Gavin and I will play through the intro once big and we'll start the song.

-Offering-

-From the Inside Out: This will be the offering song. Once the offering has been taken up I will invite everyone to stand to finish the song.

-Hosanna: Angela, this one is yours to sing. The intro will be just as it is on the album, except that I want Jim to play the intro riff and Gavin to play chords underneath, just one strum/chord. After the intro we'll switch it to guitars on top and keys underneath, like it is on the album. I'll be switching guitars coming out of "From the Inside Out" during the intro for this one.

-My Glorious: I want to transition out of Hosanna straight into this one. I will write the songs together on the same chart to show the transition. Like it is on the album, the first verse will be drum and bass driven with a keys pad underneath it.

The most technical part will be the transition between "Hosanna" and "My Glorious", but that won't really be that hard. We've just got to make it seamless. I want all of our transitions to be as smooth as possible. I'll have to switch guitars twice, between "Solid Rock" and "..Inside Out", and then from "..Inside Out" to "Hosanna". After "Solid Rock" Bryan will come up to start the offering, so that'll give me enough time to switch and be ready to start "..Inside Out" as soon as he is done talking. After we finish "..Inside Out", I'll turn around and give David the nod to start "Hosanna" as I switch. Shouldn't be that hard, but we'll run it through on Thursday just like we'll be doing it on Sunday.

See ya'll Thursday at 8:30!

David and Paul, this is the same set we'll be doing on Wednesday. Let's plan to get to 9:10 at 8:30.

Set 3-21-10

I'm glad to be back from Turkey and am looking forward to seeing you guys at practice this week. Thank you very much Jim for getting it all together while I was away!

This week we will be without Jim and Paul, so it looks like we will move Gavin to bass if he's up for it and go for a more acoustic feel (with Ryan on acoustic). Thanks again to everyone for the time and effort they put into this - it's a blessing!

See everyone at practice at 8:30pm Thursday at the college building.

Set 2-28-10

I'm looking forward to coming back together after our week off! I hear the youth did a nice job of leading worship this week for Impact.

We'll be practicing Thursday at 8:30pm at the college building. David will be back with us on drums - some people will do anything to get an extra week off. :)

Thanks again for everyone's hard work and service in this ministry!

Set 2-14-10

I thought Sunday went great and I really felt everyone worshiping. Thank you again for your time and service to the church!

I'm excited that we will again have two guitars on Sunday as Ryan Steadley will be joining us on acoustic guitar. We're also lucky enough to have Alicia Clark back with the band on Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at practice on Thursday at 8:30pm at the college building.

Set 1-31-10

It looks like we will just have one guitar this week, so Gavin will be moving over to acoustic for this set. It's possible that we will also have to move practice this week if the weather doesn't co-operate, but for now let's plan on practicing at 8:30pm on Thursday at the college building. If the weather is bad, could everyone do a Saturday practice some time after 5?

Thanks again to everyone - I had a lot of fun last Sunday!

Set 1-24-10

We should have two guitars again this week as Matt Maxwell will be joining us on acoustic and Gavin will be on electric. We'll be practicing at 8:30pm Thursday at the college building.

I keep reiterating this, but thank you to everyone for the time you're giving to lead everyone in worship! It was good to be part of the Disciple Now weekend on Sunday and I heard several accounts of people particularly enjoying worship. It is a blessing to know that regardless of the organizational and technical details that we are pointing others to God.

We will be practicing on Thursday night at 8:30pm in the college building. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Set 1-10-10

First of all, I want to thank everyone for being so flexible and helping where you can. I enjoyed worship on Sunday and thought things went well considering the circumstances. This week Gavin and Peter will be filling in for us on bass and guitar. Thank you guys - it is a big help!

We are practicing Saturday at 2pm in the college building. I think David or I have talked to everyone to make sure this works, but let me know if this is not the case.

The set list is below with links to the chord charts and mp3's. Thanks again everyone - you are such a blessing!
